Most people take the bundle, because the three volumes are really one system read in order.
The methods, with the numbers put back
Fix it once, and hand it on
The calendar that told them when
What survives is an ingredient list on a note card, in dialect, with no method and no quantities. These three volumes put back the measurements, the household system that paid for the food, and the calendar that decided when it got made.
Somebody finds it after the funeral. In handwriting that learned to write in a language nobody left can read easily: flour, eggs, lard, "a little" cheese.
No oven temperature. No timing. No method. The ingredients survived β the knowledge didn't, and that's the part you actually wanted.
It isn't carelessness. These women learned by standing next to their mothers for fifteen years, and what they knew lived in their hands: the sound a pan makes when it's hot enough, the exact colour of breadcrumbs one second before they burn. Writing it down would have seemed as strange as writing down how to walk.
Then the second generation was busy. The third never asked. And the fourth generation is you, holding a card you can't cook from.

These volumes grew out of a YouTube channel about Italian-American food and family history.
Don't take my word for it β go and read the comments.
The video these books came from is public, and so is every reply under it. People naming their grandmother, her town, and the block she settled on. That's the real review, and nobody paid for a word of it.
Read the comments on YouTube βThe Mulberry Street Memo is a channel about Italian-American food, money and family history. It exists because the same comment kept appearing under every video: my grandmother made this, and she never wrote any of it down.
These books are the attempt to write it down properly β the measurements she kept in her head, the household system that paid for the food, and the calendar that decided when it got made.
Every factual claim is sourced, with the publication named on a sources page in each volume. Where families did it differently from one province to the next, the books say so rather than pretending there was one correct way. If something in here is wrong, tell me: I'd rather correct an edition than defend it.
Launch price until 31 August. After that it returns to $91.
Thirty days, no questions and no hoops. Reply to your receipt and I'll refund you β and you keep the files. I'd rather you had them than not.
Digital PDFs, delivered instantly by email after checkout. Laid out at 6 Γ 9 inches, so they read comfortably on a phone or tablet and print cleanly at home if you'd rather have paper. No shipping, no waiting, yours permanently.
Volume 1 is specifically Sicilian and says so. Volumes 2 and 3 cover southern Italian immigrant households broadly β the money system and most of the feast calendar were shared across the south, with regional differences noted where they matter. You'll recognise a great deal and disagree with some of it, which is the correct experience.
Fair question in 2026. Every factual claim is sourced on the sources page of each volume, with the publication named β Italia.it on the strattu process, the Library of Congress on the tenements, Britannica and a West Chester University anthropologist on the Seven Fishes. Regional variants are conceded rather than flattened. If you find something wrong, tell me: I'd rather correct an edition than defend it.
Probably β but be honest with yourself about what you want. Roughly half of this is history: why breadcrumbs replaced cheese, why sweet-and-sour was preservation rather than taste, why certain dishes only appeared one day a year. If you want a straight recipe collection, this isn't it.
No. Each stands alone and each is sold separately. The bundle saves $24, which is why most people take it, but starting with Volume 1 is a perfectly sensible way in.
Yes. The Sunday Sauce Rules is Volume 0 and it's completely free β nine decisions that separate a real Sunday sauce from anything out of a jar, plus a printable card for the cupboard door. Start there if you'd rather see the work before paying for it.
Yes β there's a gift option at checkout. A fair number of these get bought by grandchildren for grandparents and by grandparents for grandchildren, which is more or less the point.
113 pages across three volumes. The methods, the money and the calendar β sourced, reconstructed, and written down at last.
